Epworth United Methodist Church

Fire Station 25

Epworth United Methodist Church was deeply saddened, as was the rest of the nation, with the loss of 19 firefighters this past summer near Yarnell, AZ. These firefighters, part of the Granite Mountain Hotshots from Prescott, AZ, were an elite unit and their loss is a loss to the entire community of Prescott and Arizona.

In our sorrow, we thought of the firefighters closer to home and what it is they do to protect and serve us. Phoenix Fire Station 25 is only 1.5 miles from the church and ha served the community as long as we have. Our pastor, Rev. Beverly Devine, reached out to the station on behalf of the church to let them know of our gratitude for their service and to make sure they knew the community appreciated them. Rev. Devine wrote about her experience and the story can be found here.

Since then, member of the congregation have delivered cookies to the firefighters, the Men's Fellowship has visited and a couple of youngsters got their own special tour.

We appreciate our First Responders and want to let them know of God's love for them and their work in serving their community.
